The mission of ES Community Church is to Exalt Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, to Equip the Saints through Biblical preaching and teaching and to Evangelize the Sinners in our community and the world by sharing God's Love. We want to be more than just a weekly church service; we aspire to be a church engaged in using all of our unique gifts and talents in order to pray, learn, grow, serve others, and be an example of God's Love. We look forward to having you as our guest.
Darel D. Hunt was born in Palestine, Texas. He is the third of five children born to Doyel and Carrine Hunt. He has three sisters; Eleanor, Joyce, Vanessa, and one brother, Doyel Jr. His family moved from a small, quiet, country atmosphere in Palestine to the large, busy, inner city of Houston Texas when he was approximately two years old.
He graduated from Evan E. Worthing High School, and Southwestern Theological Seminary with an advanced degree in Ministry. His family had many struggles to overcome. One thing that has always remained constant is their belief in God. Throughout all of the difficulties, his mother accompanied her children to worship service each Sunday.
Presently, he is employed as a Letter Carrier with the United States Postal Service in Galena Park, Texas. His route mainly consists of the Galena Manor Subdivision where there is an estimated four hundred residents with the majority of them being senior citizens. His responsibilities extend far beyond just carrying the mail. His care and concern for all patrons in the neighborhood consists of Reverend Hunt’s seemingly insignificant deeds, such as changing light bulbs, taking groceries out of the car, writing checks and paying bills , assisting with medication and medical instructions, praying with patrons and for them in their times of illness, death and other difficulties. To some people these things may seem very minute, but to many senior citizens, they are paramount.
He asks mankind the question, “Am I my brother’s keeper?” He himself answers, “Yes, by carrying God’s grace beyond the sanctuary out into the market place of life.”
In 2009, Pastor Hunt helped organize ES Community Church, and has served faithfully as its pastor. It seemed at the time impossible to start a church with just nine members, the small group however, believed that the Lord was leading them into a special work.
The initials E and S highlight Pastor Hunt’s vision for Christian ministry, which is Exalting the Savior, Equipping the Saints, and Evangelizing the Sinner. The church’s initials remind us constantly of our purpose, and open an avenue to witness when people ask about our church’s name. Pastor Hunt knows the virtues and blessings of having a “help meet”, and truly he has one in his kind and lovely wife, Soretta Hunt.
Pastor Hunt with the love and support of his family continues to heed the call to, “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.” [Matthew 28:19] Truly a dedicated shepherd, his love for this body of believers - most especially its children - is evident. “Then I will give you shepherds after my own heart...”-----Jeremiah 3:15
